Advancing Humanism Values & Principles

The Humanist Association for Leadership, Equity and Accountability (HALEA) is a grassroots not-for-profit, secular organisation registered on the 19th day of February 2008 and launched on the 19th day of March 2008 at Kampala Students Centre by Mr. Gunnar Olefsen of HAMU, Norway.

HALEA is an off-shot of UHASSO which is the mother organisation of all Humanists organisations in Uganda.

HALEA is a member-based organisation. It was founded by 24 professionals that include lawyers, journalists, teachers and social workers.

HALEA was established to advance Humanism values and principles to positively contribute to among other objectives; the empowerment of marginalised, victimised and forgotten members of society and solving human problems through the application of reason and science.

HALEA is responding to an important need through its efforts to help people help themselves live a better life. We are located in Kampala-Uganda, based in Kagugube parish, one of the worst slum areas in Uganda.
